OCI in SF – Need to submit “Surrender Certificate”?

I’m applying OCI in SF, do we need to send Original “Surrender Certificate”?

The SF Consulate website does not specify that it be the original, but a safe option would be to provide a notarized copy. Most banks will notarize documents for free for their customers.

You need to self attest the copy "True copy of the original" and sign. You can write this on top or bottom of the copy.

I did send the original with 2 copies but the SFO consulate asked to attest as above.
